Enrichment and Cultural Capital at Windmill
We believe that education is more than mastering English and maths – it is also about enrichment and extraordinary experiences that extend children’s learning through new encounters and opportunities. They give children the opportunity to apply the school values and Wagner’s ‘survival skills’ in new exciting contexts to support their personal development.
Providing enriching experiences is something we believe will enhance and extend the curriculum beyond academic achievement. At Windmill, we provide children with a vast range of experiences that will help them learn and discover new interests and hobbies such as gardening, board games, climbing, sewing and have ambition for their future careers.

Forest Schools
Forest Schools is a Scandinavian initiative designed to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through an innovative, long term, educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment. As a school, we are very fortunate to be able to use the woodland area and facilities at Edale Rise Primary School, a short distance away so that every class every year can take part in the Forest Schools programme. As we are an inner-city school, we feel that this even more essential for our children to experience nature.
Clubs
Every child will have the opportunity to engage in lots of sports and dance clubs, we run these before and after school as well as having a highly skilled girls and boys football teams and basketball teams that have won many competitions across the city.
We encourage all children to get involved in activities outside their lessons; to enable them to try new things, meet new friends and develop new skills. Every year your child will have the opportunity to explore the following after school clubs in addition to sports clubs:
