Welcome to Windmill L.E.A.D. Academy
At Windmill, our children are at the heart of everything we do. We are a vibrant, inclusive and nurturing primary school for children aged 3 to 11, located in the community of Sneinton, a short distance from Nottingham city centre. With around 470 pupils on roll, we are proud to be a diverse, two-form entry school where every child is known, valued and celebrated.
Our school community is wonderfully rich in culture, language and life experiences. Over 40 languages are spoken across the school, and many of our families come from countries around the world. This diversity is not just welcomed – it is at the core of who we are. We believe that difference is something to be recognised, respected and celebrated. It is what brings us together and makes our school such a special place.
We are proud to be a myHappymind and OPAL school, supporting children’s wellbeing and making play a joyful, meaningful part of school life. Our rich curriculum, shaped by Global Citizenship themes, helps children grow into kind, confident, and curious learners who are ready for the future.
Learning at Windmill doesn’t stop at the classroom door. From clubs, trips and sports teams to leadership roles and immersive learning in our 4D Room, we offer every child opportunities to discover their talents, explore their passions and build the confidence to shine.
With high expectations and a strong sense of community, we empower our pupils to lead their own learning, develop resilience and independence, and build the skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Windmill is more than a school – it’s a place where everyone belongs, everyone is included, and everyone has the chance to thrive.

During a monitoring inspection Ofsted praised Windmill L.E.A.D. Academy for being a ‘warm and welcoming school’ where pupils are ‘greeted by caring staff who know them well.’
“We are beyond pleased with the range of highlights outlined by Ofsted in our latest report. I am particularly proud to see Ofsted recognise that Windmill is a place where pupils enjoy learning and achieving together.
“It is a testament to the hard work, commitment and caring nature of our staff and the support of our parents, and wider community. We will continue to strive to ensure every pupil receives an excellent education that is both well-rounded and ambitious while also supporting their individual development.”
These core values underpin our vision and everything we do at Windmill L.E.A.D. Academy. They help guide us to lead more meaningful lives through the choices we make and influence our attitudes and behaviours. Furthermore, we want these values to be the key characteristics of our learners.
